Bird Song Contest
OFFICIAL RULES
No
purchase of any kind is necessary to enter or win.
Sponsor: Adventure Publications, 820 Cleveland Street South,
Cambridge, MN 55008
Eligibility: To participate in the Wild About Minnesota Birds Bird
Song Contest (“Contest”), entrant must be a Minnesota resident between 7
and 14 years of age, as of November 1, 2008. Classrooms or groups, such
boy/girl scout troops, are welcome to enter. However, groups must enter
under one member’s name on behalf of the group. Sponsor will treat each
group entry as an individual entry. Employees of Sponsor and household
members of employees are not eligible to participate in any contest or
promotional event sponsored in whole or in part by the Sponsor. Subject
to all federal, state and local laws and regulations. Void where
prohibited.
Agreement to Official Rules: By participating in the Contest,
entrant and entrant’s parent(s)/legal guardian(s) fully and
unconditionally agree to and accept these Official Rules and the
decisions of the Sponsor, which are final and binding in all respects.
Timing: The Contest begins on Tuesday, April 1, 2008, and
ends on Saturday, September 6, 2008 (the “Contest Period”).
To
Enter: Entrant must get the entry form(s) by downloading them at
www.adventurepublications.net/bird_contest.htm or by picking up entry
form(s) at participating locations. Entrant must get signed consent from
a parent or legal guardian on every entry form that he/she submits. For
each submitted entry form, entrant is required to listen to the bird in
its natural habitat. Upon completing entry form(s), entrant may submit
them in one of three ways: (1.) Mail entry forms—postmarked during the
Contest Period—to Adventure Publications, ATTN: WAMB Contest, 820
Cleveland Street South, Cambridge, MN 55008, (2.) fax entry form(s)
toll-free to 877-374-9016, or (3.) email entry form(s) to promo@adventurepublications.net.
Limit one entry per person or group per category. Entries that are
illegible or incomplete, that are sent after Saturday, September 6,
2008, or that are sent by any means other than U.S. Mail, fax or email
will not be accepted. Sponsor is not responsible for lost, late,
illegible, inaccurate, incomplete, altered, misdirected or undelivered
entries or information, whether caused by technical malfunctions, human
error or equipment failure, or by tampering, hacking or unauthorized
access. Sponsor is also not responsible for any lost or delayed data
transmission, or for any omission, interruption, deletion, defect or
line failure of any telephone network, computer online system, server or
provider, computer equipment or software, or for any traffic congestion
on the internet or at any website, or any combination thereof which may
cause or result in the delay, alteration, loss or destruction of any
entry or information of any entrant. The Sponsor is not responsible for
any injury or damage to any entrant’s computer related to or resulting
from accessing or downloading the Contest Rules or any other information
pertaining to the Contest from the Sponsor’s website.
Prize Winners: A panel of judges will rate the entries in each of
the Contest’s six categories: American Robin, Blue Jay, Common Loon,
Killdeer, Mourning Dove and Red-winged Blackbird. The judges will choose
one prize winner from each category, for a total of six winners, based
on the following criteria: (1.) How well the song description matches
the pattern of the bird’s song or call, (2.) creativity and (3.)
uniqueness. All decisions by the judges will be final and binding. Each
prize winner receives binoculars, Bird Log Kids, Birds of Minnesota
Field Guide and Audio CDs Set, Wild About Minnesota Birds and two
tickets to the Science Museum of Minnesota. Each winner will have
his/her winning entry and name featured in the next printing of Wild
About Minnesota Birds. Each entrant is eligible to win one category
only. In the event of duplicate winning entries within a category,
prizes will be split among the category’s chosen winners. Sponsor
reserves the right to name no prize winners and to award no prizes for
any and all categories in which the judges determine no entries to be
sufficient. Prizes are not transferable and substitutions are not
permitted. In the event that any winner chooses not to accept a prize or
is disqualified for any reason, that prize will be forfeited. Winners
are responsible for all taxes, if any, assessed on prizes awarded. The
prizes do not include spending money, meals, gratuity, transportation
costs, service charges, insurance and other expenses or items not
specifically described as part of the prize. Any and all fees associated
with prize receipt, redemption and use are the sole responsibility of
winner. Sponsor will not be held responsible for entries misplaced,
lost, stolen or not received for any reason. All entry forms become the
property of Sponsor and will not be returned.
Notification: All prize winners will be notified by mail on or
before November 15, 2008. Prizes will be shipped to all prize winners
with notification.
Publicity: Except where prohibited, participation in the Contest
constitutes winner’s and winner’s parents’/legal guardians’ consent to
the Sponsor’s use of winner’s name, likeness, biographical information,
hometown and state for promotional purposes in any media without any
further payment or consideration.
General Conditions: Sponsor reserves the right to cancel or modify
the Contest if fraud, technical failure or any other factor beyond
Sponsor’s reasonable control impairs the integrity of the Contest as
determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion. Sponsor reserves the right
in its sole discretion to disqualify any individual it finds to be
tampering with the entry process or operation of the Contest or to be
acting in violation of these Official Rules or in an unsportsmanlike
manner. Sponsor’s failure to enforce any term of these Official Rules
shall not constitute a waiver of that provision.
Release: By entering this Contest, entrant and entrant’s parent(s)/legal
guardian(s) agree to release and hold harmless Adventure Publications
and its employees and agents from and against any claim or cause of
action arising out of participation in the Contest or receipt,
redemption or use of the prizes.
Winners List: For Contest results, a winners list will be made
available at www.adventurepublications.net/bird_contest.htm for a period
of 30 days from conclusion of the Contest.
